Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we prepare for Thanksgiving, I reflect on how “thankful” we are for you and your family. Bergen County is blessed with good Catholic schools. Each school, boys and/or girls, strive to find their niche and what might separate them from a field of outstanding schools. At Bergen Catholic, we strive to be the number one school for academics. We believe that once that’s achieved, the rest will follow. We don’t judge, nor should you, which school has the best or largest campus. Remember my story about Regis High School in New York City? The best school provides the best academics and pathways to the colleges and universities that best fit your sons.

We recently hosted our largest Open House on record. Over 285 families attended our Open House, learning more about the Bergen Catholic Difference. Thank you for sharing the good news about Bergen Catholic with your neighbors, friends, and family. We will continue with Crusader-for-a-Day visits (booked through February!) and hold admissions evenings at various homes throughout the county.

The Gala! Oh, what a night! Thank you to all the families who joined us last Friday at the Cruader Gala and those who watched from home and supported us through the raffle or online bidding process. It was a fun-filled night with three masked singers and talented celebrity judges, including current parent Anthony Avent (professional basketball player), Chance Kelly (American Film Actor), and Margaret Josephs (star of Bravo’s Real Housewives of New Jersey – and my former babysitter!) Our masked singers were Mary Van Olden from our business office, Larry Fierro from our maintenance department, and Joe Charles, ’02. Wow, can they sing and dance! We are so grateful!

Finally, I usually don’t write much about sports. You should all be very proud of our soccer program. The freshman and junior varsity soccer programs won their county championships, and varsity soccer battled to a strong end of their season –  a few games short of a state championship. We are grateful to our coaches, players, and parents. It was so wonderful to see the families of each team come together and celebrate.

My wife Amy and I are blessed and honored to be part of the Bergen Catholic community. We wish you and your family all the best for a Thanksgiving filled with blessings and time with family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving, and may God bless you and your family.

Warm regards,

Dr. Brian Mahoney
President
