Two Crusaders Named All-County

BC Runners excel at NPA Championships

Saturday, 2/18 - Bennett Center in Toms River - The BC Indoor Track team battled some of the top teams in the east at the NJSIAA Non-Public “A” Championships. The Crusaders came away with no less than 6 state medalists and qualifiers for the State Meet of Champions. The top performances of the day came in the 55 meter dash, where senior Jahmel Johnson won his second consecutive state championship in 6.54 seconds. Just behind Jahmel was sophomore Rahmir Johnson, who finished second in 6.57 seconds. County champion senior Caleb Shaia took bronze in the 1600 meters, and sophomore Braedon Fiume was a few steps back in fourth – both qualifying for SMOC. Other place-winners and qualifiers were senior Connor Secora, who came from an unseeded heat to take fifth in the 800; and the 4x400 team of seniors Kevin Deloughry, Caleb Shaia, and Connor Secora, and sophomore Braedon Fiume, who won their heat and took 6th overall.



Strong Showing for Bergen Runners at Bergen County Championships

Wednesday, 2/15 - The BC Indoor Track team had another great day at the Bergen County Championships at the New Balance Track Center. The Crusaders came away with four individual county championships. Senior Jahmel Johnson won the 55 meter dash in a season-best 6.54. Senior Connor Secora took first in the 600 meter run, and now holds the top 2 times in the county this winter. Senior Billy Rabah is the county champion in the 800 meters, and school record-holder senior Caleb Shaia is king of the hill in the 1600. Other outstanding performances were second-place finishes by sophomore Rahmir Johnson in the 55 and senior Kevin Deloughry in the 400; third-place finishes by sophomore Braedon Fiume in the 800 and the 4x400 meter relay team; fourth-place finishes by sophomore Jayse Bradley in the high jump and senior Peter Theuerkauf in the 1600; and a sixth-place finish by senior Will O’Connell in the 800.
 



February 5, 2017 - Another Record-Setting Day for BC!

BC enjoyed another record-setting day at the NJCTC Indoor Track championships at the Ocean Breeze Track Complex in Staten Island on 2/5. Senior Caleb Shaia led the way, setting a new school record in the 1600, winning the event in 4:21.09, the top time in Bergen County this season, and #6 in NJ. Sophomore Braedon Fiume (4th, 4:25.57) and senior Will O’Connell (5th, 4:28.32) also ran county top 10 times. Senior Jahmel Johnson continued to show why he is one of the top sprinters in NJ with a 3rd place finish in the 55 meter dash in 6.63. Senior Connor Secora produced the top time in Bergen County in the 600 (1:26.03), Peter Theuerkauf ran a team-leading 9:52.55 in the 3200 meters, and Jorge Mascaro cleared a personal best of 11-6 in taking 5th in the pole vault.



January 25, 2017 - BC Tracks Down Bosco in Bergen County Relays

The BC Indoor Track team scored another dominant win at the Bergen County Relays on Wednesday at the New Balance Track Center. The Crusaders outscored rival Don Bosco, 97-50, to win our division our record a sweep of Conference and County titles for the season. BC scored in all 12 events, notching wins in the Shuttle Hurdles, 4 x 200, Sprint Medley, 4 x 800, 4 x 1600, Shot Put, Pole Vault, and Triple Jump relays. The team of sophomore Braedon Fiume and seniors Connor Secora, Billy Rabah, and Caleb Shaia broke the school record in the 4 x 1600 relay by over 30 seconds, and posted the #3 time in the nation to this point in the season. The Sprint Medley team of sophomore Rahmir Johnson and seniors Kevin Deloughry, Jahmel Johnson, and Caleb Shaia bested all Bergen County teams and recorded the #12 time in the U.S. An outstanding all-around team performance.



January 9, 2017 - BC Wins Big North


The BC Indoor Track Team scored a smashing victory at the Big North Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at the New Balance Track Center on 1/8. The Crusaders outscored runner-up Don Bosco 161 to 68, earning points in all 14 events. BC took first in 9 events, led by sophomore Rahmir Johnson, who won the 200 and the long jump, and placed 3rd in the 55 and the high jump. Top performances were Rahmir’s 22.12 in the 200 (NJ #1), Caleb Shaia’s 4:24.95 in the 1600 (NJ #2), Jahmel Johnson’s 6.57 in the 55 (NJ #5), and Jayse Bradley’s 6’4” in the high jump (NJ #8). Other winners were Michael Hyland in the shot put, Jorge Mascaro in the pole vault, Ryan Dunkel in the 55 hurdles, Braedon Fiume in the 800, Kevin Deloughry in the 400, and the 4 x 800 relay team.  <<MORE FROM THE RECORD>>




December 28, 2016 - BC Posts USA and NJ Best Times at NJCTC Relays!


At the NJCTC Relays on Wednesday at the New Balance Track Center, BC ran a US #1 time of 10:39.5 in the Distance Medley Relay. The team of seniors Billy Rabah (1200), Justin Greenberg (400), Connor Secora (800), and Caleb Shaia (1600) bested national powers CBA, Union Catholic, and Don Bosco in winning the event.
 
In addition, the Crusaders ran a US #2 and NJ #1 time of 3:38.6 in winning the Sprint Medley Relay. The team was made up of sophomore Rahmir Johnson (200) and seniors Jahmel Johnson (200), Kevin Deloughry (400), and Caleb Shaia (800).
 
BC also placed in the 4 x 200, 4 x 800, High Jump, Shot Put, and Triple Jump relays, posting impressive early-season performances.

BC had an excellent team showing with limited participation at the FDU Holiday meet on 12/17.
 
Sophomore Rahmir Johnson and senior Kevin Deloughry kicked off the action, with Rahmir winning the 55m dash (6.6), and Kevin taking 4th in the 55 hurdles (8.6). Bergen then dominated the 3200 meters, taking the first 5 places, with senior Caleb Shaia getting the win (9:58.5), sophomore Braedon Fiume taking silver (10:04.2), and senior Connor Secora placing third (10:14.2). The 400 saw Deloughry taking 2nd and senior Justin Greenberg taking 3rd.
 
In the relay portion of the meet, BC took first in the Distance Medley and second in both the 4x800 and 4x200 relays. Senior Will O'Connell partnered with Secora, Shaia, and Fiume on the DMR. Seniors Billy Rabah and Will Lenz joined sophomore Connor Haney and Greenberg on the 4x800. Rahmir led off the 4x200 that included seniors Jahmel Johnson, Alex Milano, and Deloughry.
