BC Dispatches Don Bosco Prep in State Quarters
May 24 - Oradell - The Crusaders allowed the first goal of the contest, but responded strongly with two-goal efforts from Shane Fable (2-2), Jack Vinci (2-1) and John Titolo (2-0). Of course winning 13 of 14 faceoffs, Alexander Borg, and saving 9 of 11 Ironshots, Gio Garcia, helped ensure the 8-2 victory. BC concludes its home season undefeated at Crusader Stadium and moves onto Seton Hall Prep in the state semifinals at the Kelly Athletic Complex in West Orange on Saturday, May 27.
BC Celebrates 20th Anniversary of 1st State Tourney Team with Win Over SJR
May 20 - Oradell - In its 23rd meeting wtih SJR, the Crusaders hosted the first round of the NJSIAA Tournament. Sophomore midfielder, Brett Zabransky had a day, recording 3 goals and 3 assists while senior midfielder, Jack Vinci netted four goals of his own. BC advanced with a 14-5 victory over its adversary. This was BC's 21st win against only two losses against the Green Knight squad from Montvale..
Rainy Day Washes BC Back to .500
May 13 - Lawrenceville - BC visited the Lawrenceville School on Saturday hoping to defeat the Big Red for the third time in three years. The 2017 Prep A State Champions played a solid game, much of it matched by the Crusaders who fell 12-9. Jack Vinci, Shane Fable and Michael Kearney dropped in two goals apiece for the visiting Crusaders.
Crusaders Cement 3rd Place in Gibbs Division as Fable Notches 100th Career Point
May 12 - Oradell - Shane Fable put five points on the board as BC completed its NJILL Gibbs Division play, defeating Montclair 14-5. The Crusaders jumped out to a 9-2 lead at half and were at 14-2 after 3. Jack Walker pitched in a hat-trick as the Crusaders played a very sound game on both sides of the ball.
Crusaders Falter in County Semis to Determined Ramapo Squad
May 4 - Ridgewood - Scrapping a clawing its way back to a 3-3 tie in the first quarter, BC struggled maintaining possession of the ball as they dropped a hard-fought game to Ramapo 12-6. Though they never quit, BC could not overcome a 6-3 halftime deficit. Jack Vinci scored 4 goals for the Crusaders. Alex Borg won two-thirds of his faceoffs. BC settles back to .500 on the season at 6-6.
BC Plays Complete Game in 12-3 Victory Over Mahwah
May 2 - Crusader Stadium - Alexander Borg won 19 of 19 faceoffs and John Titolo scored 4 goals, leading BC to a Quarterfinal victory over Mahwah High School in Oradell. DJ Kelly pitched in 2 goals and an assist, and Brett Zabransky and Daniel Kearney each scored two goals while senior attacker, Shane Fable pitched in a goal and three assists as BC advances. BC improves to 6-5 on the season.
BC Celebrates 16-3 Senior Day and Opening BCCA Round Victory
April 29 – Crusader Stadium – The Lacrosse Team completed a successful week with a 16-3 victory, late Saturday afternoon. The #2 seeded Crusaders unleashed what would turn out to be their best scoring day on the 2017 season, taking out Northern Valley at Old Tappan. Alexander Borg won all of his face-offs and opened the scoring :07 seconds in with a diving, backhanded-shovel shot. Shane Fable contributed 2 goals and 4 assists as 11 different Crusaders found the back of the net. BC is now 5-5 on the season.
BC Offense Explodes for 14 goals vs. Glen Ridge
April 27 – Crusader Stadium – BC was happy to return home after a very tough 3-game road trip. The Scarlet and Gold exploded in the first half and recorded a 14-2 victory over Gibbs Division rival, Glen Ridge. Shane Fable and DJ Kelly recorded hat tricks for the home team and Goalie, Dennis Priestner stopped 6 of the 8 shots on goal he faced. Alex Borg dominated at the Face Off X, winning 14 of 15 draws. BC is now 4-5 on the season.
Second Half Comeback Not Enough as BC Turns Over Brothers Cup to Iona Prep
April 25 – Wellington T. Mara Field – The Gaels relished the rainy weather and gales which swept across their home field on Tuesday, as the home team build a 6-1 lead late in the first half. Jack Vinci’s goal with 9 seconds remaining, seemed to breathe life into the visiting Crusaders who were struggling with a 2-game-losing streak as they entered. Vinci would continue on to score 5 goals on the day, but it was not enough as Iona Prep prevailed 9-8. BC is now 3-5 on the season.
BC Offense Stymied for Second Straight Game
April 22 – Mountain Lakes - BC took on New Jersey’s #1 ranked team, the Lakers from Mountain Lakes in an NJILL Gibbs Division match-up. For the second time in two games, BC was unable to generate much offense and the Lakers took command of the Division with a 9-3 victory. BC is now 3-4 on the season.
Ridgewood Shuts Down BC as Crusaders Drop First Gibbs Game
April 18 – Ridgewood – Bergen played a strong game for three quarters, ending the third, knotted at 4 against the hosting Maroons. Unfortunately, a four-minute span in the fourth quarter would see Ridgewood score 5 times, enough to knock out the Crusaders for their first in-conference loss vs. 3 victories. BC now stands at 3-3 on the season.
Crusaders Hold Off Highlanders 6-5
April 13 – Crusader Stadium – BC played valiantly in a very complete game victory vs. Northern Highlands. Shane Fable’s 3 goals and 2 assists, combined with an 11-14 day at the Face Off X by Alex Borg proved too much for a very strong Gibbs opponent. BC is now 3-2 on the season.
Crusaders Unable to Stop Hun Attack
April 10 – Princeton – Bergen Catholic travelled to the Hun School of Princeton and played a very strong opponent, falling 11-4. Despite a 2-goal effort by Jack Walker and a 10-save effort by Dennis Priestner. BC is now 2-2 on the season.
Crusaders Hit on All Cylinders at Home vs. Don Bosco Prep
April 6 – Crusader Stadium – Bergen exploded for 13 first-half goals (9 in the second quarter alone) as it took care of business vs. the Ironmen. Shane Fable lit it up for 4 goals and 3 assists and Jack Walker pitched in a hat-trick of his own. Alex Borg won 13 of his 15 face offs and Dennis Priestner stopped all 4 of the first-half shots he faced. BC improves to 2-1.
Lightning Strikes as Crusaders Shock Raiders
April 4 – Franklin Lakes – Shane Fable recorded 2 goals and 2 assists and AJ Anderson pitched in 2 goals as BC raced to an 8-4 halftime lead at Ramapo. A strong thunder storm cut the game in half and as a result, the Crusaders were credited with their first win of the new season. BC is now 1-1 on the year.
Bergen Opens with Tough Loss to Cardinal Gibbons (NC)
March 29 - Raleigh, NC
- It was the battle of the Crusaders as BC opened its season on the road against an 7-1 Cardinal Gibbons team. The home team, 2x defending NC State Champions, opened an early 3-1 lead in the first, but BC battled back to knot the score at 3 by the break. Both team competed for 48 minutes, but depth and experience helped CG earn its 8th win on the year. BC opens at 0-1 and looks to rebound vs. Ramapo on Tuesday. <<MORE>>
