County Relay Champions!

Bergen County Group Championships
The BC Outdoor Track team had a terrific team performance at the Bergen County Group championships at Old Tappan High School on May 11-12. The Crusaders won our division championship with 171.5 points to 130 by PC and 124 by Don Bosco. Amazingly, BC only won 5 of the 18 events (3 by junior Rahmir Johnson and 1 each by juniors Ivan Jacob and Henry Hughes). The championship was clinched by picking up 7 second places, 7 thirds, 2 fourths, 6 fifths, and 3 sixths. BC scored in 17 of the 18 events, and 20 different athletes contributed points. Other noteworthy performances were places in all 3 throws by junior Dean Williamson, personal bests by senior Michael Hyland (shot and discus), junior Elias Shaia (3200 meters), junior James Blair (hurdles), and multiple place winning juniors Braedon Fiume (800 and 1600) and Jack Welch (1600 and 3200).
The Crusaders' win makes it a clean sweep of the Bergen County Relays, the Big North Conference, the County Group, as well as an undefeated dual meet season.

The BC Track team put in an inspired performance at the Bergen County Relays on April 20-21 at River Dell High School. For the first time since 2001, the Crusaders won their division, outscoring Paramus Catholic, 117-113. BC did it with depth, winning only 6 of the 16 events, but scoring in all but one. The jumpers, however, were dominant, winning the long jump, triple jump, and high jump relays. Senior Isaiah Givens and junior Henry Hughes were part of all three wining relays, with senior Javontae Jean-Baptiste, and juniors James Blair and Rahmir Johnson also joining in. Johnson was part of the winning Sprint Medley and 2nd place 4 x 100 team, as were senior Ryan Zihenni and freshman Adrian Taffe. Juniors Braedon Fiume and Jack Welch were part of two winning distance relays, as well as a runner-up performance. Juniors Elias Shaia and Graydon Nichols also scored in three separate relays. In all, 26 Crusaders were part of the scoring, making it a great team effort.
