BC Finishes 4th in State Sectional

Rahmir Johnson Breaks BC 100 and 200m Records at Big North United Championships

Despite winning 12 of the 16 events contested at the Big North United Division track championships, the BC track team came up 2 points short  of winning the team title, falling 136-134 to Don Bosco. In the process, however, sophomore Rahmir Johnson made history by breaking school records in the 100 (10.75) and 200 (21.46) meter dashes, and winning both events. Rahmir currently has the #1 200 meter time in New Jersey, and the #2 200 meter time. For good measure, Rahmir won the long jump with the 2nd longest jump in school history of 22’ 0”. Also winning conference championships in 3 events was senior Kevin Deloughry, who took the 400 hurdles (59.6), 400 (51.41) and anchored the 4x400 relay (51.5). Other champions were seniors Ryan Dunkel (high hurdles), Caleb Shaia (1600), Joe Korin (javelin), and Jorge Mascaro (pole vault), as well as sophomores Braedon Fiume (800) and Jayse Bradley (high jump).

Friday-Saturday, April 21-22 - The Crusader Outdoor track team dueled with rival Don Bosco (and many others) for the team title at the 2-day Jack Yockers Bergen County Relays. BC was dominant in the sprint and distance events, turning in the fastest time in the county in the shortest (4x100 relay) and longest (4x1600 relay) events, with the 4x1600 team of seniors Will O’Connell, Caleb Shaia, Billy Rabah, and Connor Secora breaking the school record and putting up the fastest time in the state at 18:00.9. The Sprint Medley team of sophomore Rahmir Johnson and seniors Kevin Deloughry, Jahmel Johnson, and Caleb Shaia won the event with the second-fastest time in New Jersey this year (3:31.6), qualifying the team for the national championships. Other wins came in the Pole Vault, High Jump, Shot Put, 4x200, 4x400, and 4x800 relays. Unfortunately, two costly disqualifications (4x100 relay and shuttle hurdles relay) contributed to BC coming up short of Bosco by a score of 130-124.

April 9 - The BC Outdoor Track team had yet another record-breaking day at the NJ Catholic Track Conference Relays at St. Joseph Metuchen.  The 4 x 1500 meter relay team (sophomore Braedon Fiume and seniors Will O’Connell, Peter Theuerkauf, and Caleb Shaia) chased national champion CBA to a second place finish and smashed the school record in 17:05.51. On the other end of the distance spectrum, our 4 x 100 meter relay team of junior Ryan Zihenni and seniors Jahmel Johnson, Andrew Vito, and Kevin Deloughry won the event in a North Jersey-leading FAT time of 44.02. This same team took 3
rd in the 4 x 200 relay (1:33.35). BC also took 2nd in the javelin relay (seniors Joe Korin and Alex Milano and sophomore Deam Williamson) and the sophomore 4 x 800 relay (Elias Shaia, Connor Haney, Graydon Nichols, and Braedon Fiume).
