December 21 – Coral Springs, FL – Bergen Catholic won the Kruel Classic Tournament in South Florida this Tuesday following its 62-51 win over South Gwinnett High School of Georgia. South Gwinnett was 13-0 entering the contest and ranked #2 in the Peach State.
The Crusaders opened the game strong with a 12-2 run. All three contests this tournament have ended with a considerable first quarter lead for the Crusaders and this game was no different. BC led 14-7 after one.
The Comets brought a 13-0 record into this game and fought to a 18-18 tie midway through the second. They proceeded to put BC on its heels as that run continued to produce a three-point lead 25-22, but leadership of seniors Will Richardson (19 points) and Elias Espinosa (4 first half points) kicked in to help BC re-establish a four-point lead at half 33-29.

The lead doubled by the end of the third quarter to 44-36 and as the Crusaders continued to push the team ultimately finished off with a strong fourth.
Sophomore Center Terry Copeland was named Tournament MVP and Julian Brown, Will Richardson and Copeland were all named to the 2021 All-Tournament Team.
