May 30 – Lyndhurst, NJ – The game was rained out on Tuesday. It was suspended on Wednesday and finally finished on Thursday. BC was entering a dire situation on Thursday, entering with a 0-2 deficit and just 12 outs to salvage the season.
On Wednesday, Jacob Denner did his best, holding the Ironmen to just two runs. But the offense struggled to produce, leaving runners in scoring position with less than two outs twice in the early innings as Don Bosco pitching struck out nine Crusader hitmen.
The umpires called for the tarps to be brought out and it was a wise decision as localized flooding, strong winds and even a tornado touched down in a lightning-stricken Garden State.
Fast-forward to Thursday. Dominic Cancellieri took the mound for BC, shutting out Don Bosco through the remainder of the game. Pat Cerami was the lone Crusader to score on a Juan DeLaCruz RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. After Cancellieri retired the side in the top of the last, BC was unable to generate that all-important tying run.
Sophomore, Tywone Malone drilled a double and Armari Paula recorded a base hit and two stolen bases for BC.
