Varsity Hockey Drops Home Opener to Christian Brothers

November 30 – Hackensack, NJ – Once again, the young Crusader hockey team skated well for a majority of the game, but were one period away from putting together a complete performance. Coach Tom Keough is happy with the progress the team is making and confident in the future of the program, which is being forced to raise its level of play in order to compete with New Jersey’s strongest programs.
Junior Forward, Nick Chiaruzzi cut an early CBA lead in half as he scored with 2:29 remaining in the first on a power play for the Crusaders.
The second period was all CBA as the Colts scored 3 goals, the last coming at the 0:05 remaining. The Crusaders did receive solid play from both of their goalies, Chris Branch and Brendan McCaskey. Sophomore transfer defender Matt “Buddy” O’Donnell and line mate William Walsh were effective on the defensive end as well.

Senior Forward, Cam Monteverdi, provided physical leadership and gave the team a spark in the third period, recording his first goal of the season. The Crusaders would win the period, but it was not enough to overcome the 4 goal lead built up by the Colts who went on to a 5-2 victory.
