May 11 – Old Tappan –The BC track team completed a historic conference and county schedule on Saturday at the Bergen County Championships at Northern Valley Old Tappan Regional High School. In winning the team championship over runner-up Paramus Catholic by a score of 220 to 178, the Crusaders completed the “double triple crown” – winning conference AND county championships in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track for the first time in school history.
BC got scoring contributions from an incredible 21 different athletes, led by seniors Rahmir Johnson (30), Dean Williamson (26), Ivan Jacob (24), Braedon Fiume and Graydon Nichols (20 each). Especially noteworthy performances were contributed by Johnson (2 wins and 2 seconds), Nichols (2 wins, including a county-leading performance in the 1600), and Williamson (a win and 2 seconds, including qualifying for the national championships in the javelin). The Crusaders definitely lived up to their #1 ranking in North Jersey!
     A record 10 BC athletes are expected to be invited to the Bergen Meet of Champions on Friday, May 17th at Hackensack, after which the Crusaders will contend for a state sectional championship at Don Bosco on 5/20-21.
