April 1 – Montclair, NJ – The winds were cold and the greens were firm but the score was low, so BC opens Coach Jim Jacobsen’s 37th year at the helm with a decisive victory over St. Joseph Regional of Montvale. Senior Will Celiberti tried his best to match the perceived temperature of 35o and led the Crusaders with a low score of 36.
“I had a lot of layers on so it was difficult to hit the ball. I needed to play a lot more ¾ (strength) shots rather than full ones.”
Because of the wind, he generally chose one club up (ex. from an 8 to a 7 iron) in order to keep the ball down. “The second hole was a 170 yard par 3, that I hit within an inch.” That led to his one birdie.
Charlie Cummings and Brandon Valvano each recorded 39. Leo Turi turned in a 45 for the afternoon and Joe Calocino (43) and Liam White (40) rounded out the Crusader golfers.
