BC Completes Its Drive for Five!

January 23 - New York, NY - The BC Indoor Track team captured its 5th consecutive County Championship at the Bergen County Relays at the New Balance Track Center on Wednesday. The Crusaders received scoring contributions from an astounding 22 separate athletes, showing that they are the strongest and deepest team in the county. First place overall (all groups) performances were turned in by the 4 x 200 (seniors Rahmir Johnson and James Blair and sophomores Adrian Taffe and Elijah Somerville) and long jump relays (senior Henry Hughes and sophomore Jaden Ebanks).  The 4 x 1600 relay  (seniors Braedon Fiume, Graydon Nichols, Elias Shaia, and Jack Welch) were second in the #2 time in the nation this season. The 4 x 400 (Taffe, Nichols, Fiume, Johnson) and High Jump relays (Blair and senior Ivan Jacob) took third. BC won the Non-Public division by a scoe of 94-62 over Paramus Catholic. An amazing team performance.
Next up for the Crusaders is the NJCTC Championships on February 3rd.

Crusaders Capture 3rd Straight BNC Division Championship

January 14 - Staten Island, NY - The BC Indoor Track team stormed the beaches of Staten Island in sweeping to a big win at the Big North Conference United Division Championships on Monday,  at the Ocean Breeze Track Center. The Crusaders captured their 3rd straight title (and 6th in the last 7 years) by a score of 146.33 to 85.66 over runner-up Paramus Catholic. Any amazing 21 separate athletes scored points for Bergen, led by seniors Braedon Fiume (1st in the 3200, 1600, and 4x400), Ivan Jacob (1st in the high jump and pole vault, and 5th in the hurdles), and Rahmir Johnson (1st in the 55 and 200). Rahmir's times of 6.54 in the 55 and 22.19 in the 200 are tops in Bergen County and #3 in NJ. Seniors Henry Hughes (1st in triple jump and 3rd in long jump) and Graydon Nichols (1st in 800 and 4x400), and sophomore Adrian Taffe also scored in double digits. Senior Dean Williamson (shot put) and sophomore Jaden Ebanks (long jump) also took home individual conference championship gold. A terrific team performance all around.

Paul Schwartz Invitational Results

January 11 – Hackensack, NJ – The BC Indoor Track team enjoyed another successful day at the Paul Schwartz Invitational at FDU on Friday. The varsity runners were tuning up for the Conference Championships on the 14th, while the freshmen and novices were gaining important racing experience. Senior James Blair started things off with a 3rd place finish in the 55m hurdles, and freshman Alex Shaia continued the momentum, taking first in the frosh 800 meters. Alex teamed with classmates Timmy Caulfield, Miles Suitt, and Nick Pesanello to take second in the frosh 4 x 400 relay. The varsity distance crew was dominant, winning the 4 x 800 relay, and taking 5 of the top 6 spots in the 1000 meter run. Senior Braedon Fiume won the 1000 with the top time in Bergen County (2:41.2), followed by seniors Graydon Nichols in second (County #2), Jack Welch in 3rd, and Elias Shaia in 5th. Sophomore Owen McCarthy rounded out the medals with 6th.

Fiume Ties BC Record in 1500m

January 5 – New York, NY – At the Hispanic Games at the Armory Track Center in Manhattan, senior Braedon Fiume led the way with a Bergen County-leading clocking in the mile of 4:23.89. On the way to his personal best time, Braedon tied the school record in the 1500 meters in 4:06.60. Seniors Elias Shaia (4:37.79) and Graydon Nichols (4:39.68) also put up the #5 and #6 times in the county this season.

Jacob Soars in Garfield

January 5 – Garfield, NJ –
The BC Indoor Track team had a successful weekend at two separate meets. At the Garfield Shot Put/High Jump meet, senior Ivan Jacob won the high jump with a Bergen County-leading jump of 6' 2". Right behind was senior James Blair, who took second with a jump of 6' 0". In the shot put, senior Dean Williamson took second with a throw of 48' 6". Freshman Johnny Aghjayan took 3rd in the freshman shot competition.

Runners Get Jump on Competition With Good Start at Bishpo Loughlin Games

December 15 – Staten Island, NY –
On Saturday, seniors Braedon Fiume and Elias Shaia competed in the prestigious Invitational 2-mile run at the Bishop Loughlin Games at the Ocean Breeze Track Center on Staten Island. Fiume finished 5th in a state-leading time of 9:53.49, while Shaia finished 12th in 10:19.17. Both returned to the track a few hours later in the mile run, where Fiume captured 3rd in a NJ #3 time of 4:31.72, and Shaia finished in 4:46.82. A very solid start to the new season.
