MCGEE EARNS ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA AND JOINS 5 OTHERS ON ALL-STATE TEAMS
June 2 – Martinsville, NJ – Thomas McGee became the latest BC student-athlete named Academic All-America. He and five of his teammates were also named All-State. Here they are:
FIRST TEAM: Michael Kearney – Midfield, Thomas McGee – Defense. SECOND TEAM: DJ Kelly – Attack, Max Nolan – Goal. HONORABLE  MENTION: Brenden Kelly – Attack, Brett Zabransky – Midfield.


LATE GOAL RUINS HERIOC CRUSADER COMEBACK
May 22 – Oradell, NJ – The Crusaders found themselves in a 7-3 hole at halftime of the NJSIAA Quarterfinal game vs. Don Bosco Prep on Wednesday. During the final 24 minutes, BC mounted an incredible come-back, tying twice in the final three minutes and gaining possession with under two minutes to go.
A late turnover and set play, shocked the Crusaders with 19 seconds to end their state title hopes 11-10 in front of a terrific crowd at Crusader Stadium.
Sophomore attacker, Brenden Kelly led the BC attack with 5 goals. His line mates, junior, Craig Campbell knotted the game at 9 and senior, DJ Kelly tied the score at 10, late in the game. Andrew Boel recorded two assists for BC and Michael Kearney, Louden Sheehan and Gavin Simcox all scored a goal for BC.
Junior goalie, Max Nolan, played very strong in the goal, turning away 15 shots and was supported by Tom McGee who, as is his staple, played a tremendous game defensively and set up Brenden Kelly in transition with a long pass that translated into a second-half goal.


NNJIL ALL-GIBBS TEAMS ANNOUNCED
May 20 – Ramsey, NJ – On Monday night, the NJILL All-Gibbs Meeting was held. Earning all division in lacrosse were:
1st Team: Michael Kearney, DJ Kelly, Thomas McGee; 2nd Team: Max Nolan, Brett Zabransky; Honorable Mention: Chris Yoler; Man of the Year: Mr. Haemmerle


SEVEN NAMED TO ALL-COUNTY:  KEARNEY, KELLY AND McGEE ARE ALL FIRST TEAM
May 19 – Westwood, NJ – The lacrosse coaches from the Bergen County Coaches Association and Bergen Catholic was well represented with three first team players.
Michael Kearney earned first team for the second consecutive year. The Bryant-bound midfielder recorded 30 goals, 8 assists and 30 ground balls from his midfield position to lead BC.
DJ Kelly’s outstanding season as BC’s top goal scorer landed him on the First Team. The Holy Cross-bound senior scored 41 goals and 18 assists with 32 ground balls from the Attack position.
Thomas McGee was BC’s top defender who was all over the field, leading the team with 71 ground balls and scoring 5 goals and adding an assist. McGee won 42 face-offs in a addition to causing countless turnovers all over the field.
On Second Team, St. Joseph University-bound Brett Zabransky pitched in 34 face-off wins, scoring 16 goals and 8 assists while leading all midfielders with 41 ground balls. He is joined by junior goal keeper Max Nolan. Nolan was outstanding between the pipes, saving 139 shots for a 56% Save Percentage.
Sophomore Brenden Kelly earned Third Team All-County for the Crusaders. His 50 points (30 goals and 20 assists) speaks volumes in his first starting season for BC. His line mate, Craig Campbell earned Honorable Mention All-County. The junior attackman who led the team in assists (25) was fourth overall in points with 33, scoring 8 goals despite missing a number of games due to injury.

KELLY'S SIX POINT DAY NOT ENOUGH TO SLAY THE HUN
May 13 – Princeton, NJSenior Attackman, DJ Kelly ripped off five goals and added an assist, but the Crusaders were unable to keep pace with a fierce Hun School of Princeton offense. Teammates, Brenden Kelly (2G-1A) and Brett Zabransky (2G) also had strong shooting performances for BC on a nasty rainy day in Somerset County. Dan Negron accounted for the 10th Crusader goal. The shooters had solid team support, as assists were created by Andrew Boel (1), Michael Kearney (1) and Gavin Simcox (1). Goalie, Max Nolan turned away 10 shots on the afternoon.


NOLAN, KEARNEY COME UP HUGE AS CRUSADERS TAKE DOWN LAWRENCEVILLE
May 10 – Lawrenceville, NJ – Max Nolan turned away 18 shots and Michael Kearney scored four goals as the Lacrosse Team snapped a 2-game losing streak to defeat the Big Red of Lawrenceville School.
     Brett Zabransky put scored two goals and an assist and the Kellys (Brenden and DJ, no relation) each scored two as they welcomed stabling force Craig Campbell (1 Assist) back from an injury. His absence apparent as the Crusaders scored only 9 goals in their last two games, rather than the 10.7 gpg they average.
     Gavin Simcox pitched in a goal and an assist and Andrew Boel added an assist. Thomas McGee, Chris Yoler, George Talarico, Gavin Crimmins and Christian Horgan played well as BC won 11-9 on the road, under the lights.


COUGARS TAKE BITE OUT OF SNAKE BITTEN CRUSADERS
May 8 – Oradell, NJ – Injuries have wreaked havoc on the Crusader Lacrosse Varsity Team this season and the effects once again showed on Wednesday as Chatham defeated BC 8-5. Senior midfielder, Michael Kearney, scored two goals for the Crusaders and Brenden Kelly (1-1), Brett Zabransky (1-1), DJ Kelly (1-0) and Gavin Simcox (0-1) all pitched in points for BC.


CHRISTIAN HORGAN LEADS BC WITH 6 GROUND BALLS IN BCCA TOURNAMENT
April 30 – Oradell, NJ – The Crusader lacrosse team competed in the BCCA Quarterfinals with St. Joseph Regional on Tuesday. It was a critical upset that shocked the Bergen County and state lacrosse scene as the # 2 Crusaders fell to the seventh-seeded Green Knights 9-4.
     Senior Captain Michael Kearney led BC with 2 goals and added four ground balls. Brett Zabransky and Brenden Kelly each added a goal. Goalie Max Nolan saved eight of the seventeen shots on goal. Horgan, playing additional time due to an injured Trevor Oberlander made the most of his opportunity, serving as top GB player. Tom McGee played relentlessly for forty-eight minutes, his hallmark.


BC THUNDERS PAST MAHWAH
April 27 – Oradell, NJ – The Crusader Lacrosse Team celebrated Senior Day with a lopsided 15-2 victory over Mahwah. BC scored 8 in the opening period on its way to an 11-1 lead over the Thunderbirds at half. Senior Captains, Michael Kearney (3G-1A) and DJ Kelly (2G-2A) each recorded four points as did sophomore standout, Brenden Kelly (3G-1A).
     Craig Campbell and Vann Weinkauf, each set up two teammates while Brett Zabransky and Sam Hofstetter each scored a goal and an assist. Captain, defenseman, Thomas McGee recorded a goal as did Daniel Negron, Andrew Boel, Ryan Morrissey and Aedan Kearns
     Max Nolan stopped seven of eight shots he faced and Freshman Dominic Pira stopped a shot as well in the victory.
     Next up for the Crusders will be SJR in the BCCA County Quarterfinals at Bergen Catholic at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, April 30.


KELLYS CONTINUE TO SCORE ON 
ORADELL/RIDGEWOOD AVE.
April 25 – Ridgewood, NJ – The Crusader Lacrosse Team were unable to shake off Tuesday’s game with Mountain Lakes as they faced a motivated Ridgewood HS in the on Thursday. Brenden Kelly recorded a pair of goals and DJ Kelly scored the third for BC who fell 9-3.
     Louden Sheehan, Andrew Boel and Craig Campbell set up the Kellys for their points. Max Nolan was once again, strong in goal, stopping 10 of 19 shots. Sheehan also picked up a pair of ground balls, as did season leader Thomas McGee (47 season) and Michael Kearney.
     Chris Yoler, Trevor Oberlander and Gavin Crimmins each were solid on defense, recording a GB apiece.


LATE SURGE PROPELS 
#1 LAKERS PAST CRUSADERS
April 23 – Oradell, NJ – The Crusader Lacrosse team entered a battle of Gibbs Division unbeatens on Tuesday. Despite a terrific effort and fight, the Lakers of Mountain Lakes secured the division title with a 13-7 victory over BC.
     Senior Defenseman, Thomas McGee assisted on a goal and was all over the field, recording 8 ground balls and winning 7 face offs in 16 attempts.
     DJ Kelly and Brett Zabransky each had 2 goals and 2 assists on the day and dynamic, Brian Mullen pitched in a goal and an assist. Louden Sheehan continued his unselfish play from the midfield, setting up a goal scorer and Michael Kearney and Gavin Simcox each rocketed shots past the Laker keeper.
     Junior goalie, Max Nolan faced thirty shots from some of the top offensive players in the state and made 17 saves,


KEARNEY LEADS BC OVER NORTHERN HIGHLANDS, KELLY SCORES 100TH POINT
April 16 – Allendale, NJ – Senior Captain Midfielder Michael Kearney was on a mission and his four goals alone, doubled the scoring output of the Highlanders. Junior Goalie, Max Nolan, played a tremendous game against his home sending district’s squad as BC defeated NH 11-2. DJ Kelly had a big night with 1 goal and 4 assists. He scored his 100th point on the same field he scored his first varsity point on during his freshman year. Sophomore attackman, Brenden Kelly recorded a hat trick and line-mate Junior attacker, Craig Campbell recorded two goals and an assist. Louden Sheehan pitched in a goal and Gavin Simcox added an assist as BC moves to 3-0 in the NJILL Gibbs Division and 6-1 overall.


CRUSADERS DOMINATE FALCONS
April 13 – Oradell, NJ – The Bergen Catholic Varsity Lacrosse Team built a tremendous lead and coasted to a 17-8 win over St. Joseph High School from Metuchen. DJ Kelly had a big day, scoring 3 goals and assisting on four others while fellow attackman, Brenden Kelly scored three and picked up three assists. Add in attackman, Craig Campbell (2 goals, 3 assists) and the trio put together an eighteen-point day.
     Midfielder, Gavin Simcox, scored 2 goals and an assist and Michael Kearney and Nick Almanza also recorded a goal. Junior midfielders Andrew Boel and Brian Mullen pitched in a couple of points with a goal and an assist each. Ryan Jaworski notched his first varsity goal while Daniel Negron, Louden Sheehan and Vann Weinkauf each assisted on a goal.
 

CRUSADERS POUND RAMAPO IN GIBBS MATCHUP
April 11 – Oradell, NJ – The Bergen Catholic Crusaders put another notch in their belt as they continued to pursue perfection in the NJILL Gibbs Division as they knocked off defending County Champion Ramapo Regional HS on Thursday 10-7.
     It was a streaky game as BC jumped out to a 5-1 lead until they saw Ramapo claw at it, to make the score 5-5 entering the fourth quarter. Sophomore attackman, Brenden Kelly, scored four goals and assisted on three more to lead BC. DJ Kelly (3 goals – 1 assist) got things going in the fourth and Michael Kearney (1-2) scored a goal as BC grew a 9-5 lead. Ramapo picked up a fourth quarter goal, before Brenden answered and capped the BC Scoring at 10.
     Craig Campbell assisted on two goals and Brett Zabransky and Gavin Simcox each added a goal. Dan Negron rounded out BC’s scorers with an assist. Tom McGee led BC with ground balls with 5, followed by Louden Sheehan (2) and George Talarico (2). Max Nolan saved 9 for the Crusaders who are now 4-1 on the season.
 

KELLY AND CAMPBELL AMONG STATE LACROSSE LEADERS
April 4 – Newark, NJ – Attackmen, DJ Kelly and Craig Campbell have been putting up some strong numbers in the opening days of the lacrosse season, ranking them among the top in the state. Kelly’s 13 goals places him at 23rd among goal scorers and Campbell’s 7 assists ranks him 44th among set up men! Keep up the great work!
 
 
BROTHERS’ CUP REMAINS IN THE HANDS OF IONA PREP
April 4 – New Rochelle, NY – BC found itself in a 5-1 hole, but dug, dug, dug to create an 9-6 lead in the second quarter. That lead evaporated before the intermission and the teams went into the second half tied at 9. Unfortunately, the Crusaders were not able to crack through the Gael defense often enough as Iona Prep defeated BC 11-0 in lacrosse on Thursday.
     Senior midfielder, Michael Kearney recorded a hat trick and an assist, while Andrew Boel had a big game for BC with two goals and two assists. Junior middies Louden Sheehan (2 goals) and Gavin Simcox (1 goal) scored as Brian Mullen set up 3 goals. DJ Kelly continued his hot streak scoring a goal and an assist and senior captain defenseman, Tom McGee scored a goal for BC
 
 
KELLY AND KELLY LIFT BC OVER BOSCO 7-6
April 2 – Ramsey, NJ – The Crusaders travelled up to DBP on Tuesday evening and, in a typically emotional and physical game, came away with a victory in no small part due to the Righty-Lefty scoring tandem on the attack of DJ Kelly and Brenden Kelly. The senior (DJ) recorded the hat trick (3 goals) and Brenden deposited 2 shots in the back of the net. Michael Kearney and Thomas McGee pitched in goals as well for the victors. Six of the seven goals were set up by Brett Zabransky (1), Craig Campbell (2) and Brian Mullen (3). Max Nolan
 
 
LACROSSE RUNS UP AND DOWN AND ALL AROUND THE HILL SCHOOL
March 30 – Pottstown, PA – Senior attackman, DJ Kelly scored 4 goals and 3 assists to lead BC to its second win 15-4 over the Hill School. Junior midfielder, Brian Mullen provided a hat trick and Michael Kearney added a pair of goals as the Crusader offense exploded against the home team.
     Brett Zabransky and Craig Campbell each score a goal and each player set up three others, finishing with 4-point days. Brenden Kelly pitched in a goal and an assist and defender Tom McGee along with Riley Kahill and Phil Hahm scored. Gavin Simcox set up to teammates and Aedan Mayo closed out the scoring with an assist.
     The Crusaders improve to 2-0, setting up a big game with rival and Gibbs Division competitor, Don Bosco Prep on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm at Granatell Stadium in Ramsey.
 
 
CRUSADER LACROSSE STARTS WITH HOME VICTORY OVER MONTCLAIR
March 27 – Oradell, NJ – The Kelly era opened with a win over traditional state power, Montclair High School, by a score of 16-9 on Wednesday at Crusader Stadium. Head Coach Kevin Kelly watched his son Brenden toss in a goal and two assists while senior captain DJ Kelly scored 5 goals and one assist to lead the Crusader offense. Senior midfielder, Michael Kearney scored 3 goals and 2 assists and line-mate Brett Zabransky scored two goals and added an assist.
     The entire offense was gelling as the home team opened an 11-2 half-time lead.
     Strong defense by Thomas McGee and Goalie Max Nolan helped the Crusaders create a cushion Montclair would never seriously threaten. Senior close defenseman, Julian Virgona and junior Chris Yoler helped to play smart defense while defensive midfielders, led by long-sticks, Trevor Oberlander, Christian Horgan and George Talarico and short-stick Gavin Crimmins shored down the BC goal side of the field.
     Football quarterback and midfielder, Andrew Boel, scored his first varsity goal in what expects to be a very promising career.   Midfielders Brian Mullen, Jake Nelson and Louden Sheehan all pitched in a goal. Craig Campbell assisted on two scores and Daniel Negron added an assist as well.
