Crusaders Take Third at Beast of the East; Foca Reins Again
December 23 – Newark, DE – The Crusader Wrestling Team once again made its mark at a national event, placing 3rd behind Blair Academy (NJ) and Wyoming Seminary (PA). Senior Nick Foca was the lone BC champion, recording a 5-0 run including 3 pins and 1 tech fall. Jacob Cardenas (4-1) wrestled strong earning second on the day. Joe Cangro (7-1), Nick Kayal (7-1) and Robert Howard (6-1) all wrestled back with great determination to earn 3rd place medals.

Crusader Wrestling Finishes Second at Excalibur Tourney
December 15 – Wilkes Barre, PA – Three champions were crowned as BC started its climb toward an unprecedented 8th consecutive state championship at the Excalibur Tournament at Wilkes University on Saturday.
earned Gold winning two matches by Pin-Fall and two by decision, going 4-0 at the 113 pound weight class. Robert Howard
dominated 126, recording 3 pins and a tech-fall along the way to his 5-0 start to the season. Returning state champion, Jacob Cardenas
also won gold with a 4-0 record and none of his matches lasting four-and-a-half minutes. He recorded 2 pins and 2 tech falls at the 195 pound weight class.
Wade Unger, Joe Zargo and Chris Foca all earned silver, followed by Joe Cangro and Gabe Mendez who earned third place. In all, twelve of fourteen Crusaders placed including Richard Halal (126 lbs), Adrian Pietri (160 lbs), Jack Patti (170 lbs), and Pat Colicchio (285 lbs).
Wil Kupferschmidt and Patrick Grey also accounted well of themselves in Pennsylvania, each contributing a pin to the team effort. Overall, the Crusaders won 45 bouts, losing 17 for a .726 winning percentage. They recorded 26 pins, 3 technical falls and 1 major decision.

Robert Howard Wins Olympic Gold Medal in Argentina

Junior, Robert Howard, scored a technical fall in each of his bouts as he went on to become one of the first Americans to ever win Gold in freestyle wrestling in the Junior Olympics. Robert dominated the field at the 55KG weight class. Read more here.
