During his 26 years at Bergen Catholic, Mr. Dominick Albamonte was responsible for the maintenance of the school’s building and grounds. At the time of his hiring, he was the only member of a one-man maintenance “staff” that was responsible for a myriad of duties needed to keep the school “up and running.” In addition to the ever-growing list of maintenance and repair jobs that he was obligated to perform, he performed many tasks that improved the athletic facilities at the school, such as constructing a series of storage sheds, installing a new sprinkler system under the football field and acquiring and installing a new scoreboard in the gymnasium. Thanks to his expertise in plumbing and electrical work, the school was able to avoid the significant cost of hiring outside help for those necessary projects. When it was time to put down his hammer, plunger and chisel, he continued to serve the students of BC by picking up several musical instruments and using them to perfection as a member of ”Jimmy D and Orchestra,” a band that performed at BC’s highly-popular “Showtime” and other school events and dances. Dom, still in excellent health, continues to stay active in his current home state of Florida.
