Mr. Joseph Cody graduated from Bergen Catholic 1962, earning letters in football, basketball and track. He was captain of the football team in his senior year and went on to earn two letters in football at Columbia University. After graduation, Joe began a 15-year teaching career at Horace Mann School. During that time, he played rugby for the Old Blue Rugby Club while continuing his studies at Columbia, earning his doctorate in 1978. He became captain of the team and also a captain of a United States team that played a number of international rugby matches. Joe developed an interest in long distance running and, as a result of his NYC Marathon experience, he co-authored the Road Runners Guide to NYC (1979), published by the Times/Quadrangle Committee, which provides group seminars for company presidents and CEO’s. Joe conducts conflict resolution and organizational development seminars and presides over presentation skills and sales training sessions. He is a member of the Pharmaceutical Advertising Council, the National Speakers Association, and the Venture Association of NJ. He continues to enjoy sports and has served for the last ten years as captain of the Glen Ridge Men’s Tennis Team, where he resides with Molly, his wife for 30 years, and their three children, Kevin (25), Kate (24) and Sarah (15).
