Mr. John Direnzo graduated from Weehawken High School in 1967, where he excelled int eh sport of wrestling and won a scholarship to Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. John graduated from LIU in 1972 with a BS degree in health. He wrestled for the New York Athletic Club for 12 years where he placed 3rd in the Wrestling Nationals in Tampa, Florida and the NCAA Judo Nationals, held in St. Joseph Missouri. John furthered his education at St. Peter’s College, where he received a Master’s degree in Administrative Supervision. Mr. Direnzo is currently in his 30th year at Bergen Catholic High School, where he teaches Health/Physical Education. John will forever be remembered for founding the wrestling program while leading his squads to innumerable victories over the years.
