Scott Gismond taught Social Studies at Bergen Catholic from 1970-2016. During his tenure as Chairman of the Social Studies Department from 1990-2000, courses were added in American Government. He also established the BC chapter of the Junior State of America, chaperoning the students to Washington D.C. where they were able to sit in the House of Representatives. He chaperoned numerous trips to Europe and ski trips to Vermont and Canada. Mr. Gismond served as the JV and Varsity coach for the Tennis and Swim teams for over 2 decades. He received the BC Founder’s Medal in 2006 and was named BC Teacher of the Year in 2016. He has been married to his wife Joan since 1985. They have two sons, Sean and Douglas. Scott has been active in his community in the Police Athletic Association, Boys Scouts, Little League and St. John the Evangelist Music Ministry.
