Mr. Jason Hernandez is a member of the Bergen Catholic Class of 1994. He made his mark in the sport of wrestling. establishing himself not only as one of the finest wrestlers in not only BC history, but in Bergen County history, as well. He was the first four-time Bergen County Coaches Association champion in the history of that tournament, the first four-time District VII champion and Bergen Catholic’s first individual State Champion. Jason won 17 tournaments during his high school career (including four Region ll championships) and earned the “Most Outstanding Wrestler” distinction on three occasions. He compiled an outstanding career record of 121-8. ln addition to winning a state championship at 130 pounds in 1994 (when he pinned the returning state champion). Jason placed in each of his three other appearances at the state tournament. finishing in seventh place in 1991 and in fourth place in 1992 and 1993. Jason aet school records for consecutive dual meet victories and was the first BC wrestler to complete an undefeated season. A member of the Region II Hall of Fame, he was named as an All-American after his senior season and was chosen by The Record as one of the “Middleweights of the Century.” Jason and his wife, Jessica. will celebrate their second wedding anniversary in April, 2008.
