Br. James R. Kelly has been a member of the Congregation of the Christian Brothers for over 52 years. A graduate of Holy Family Elementary and Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, NY, he progressed through the Juniorate and Novitiate, taking first vows in 1949. He received a BA in History from Iona College in 1955 and an MA in History in 1961. Prior to joining the Bergen Catholic family, he served the Christian Brothers’ schools in Newfoundland, Canada, All Hallows institute in New York City, Bishop Francis-Essex Catholic HS in New Jersey and Palma High School in California. In 1968, Br. Kelly was appointed the 3rd Principal at Bergen Catholic, in which he served for six wonderful years. In subsequent years, Br. Kelly served as Principal at Bishop Francis-Essex Catholic, studied in Rome, and has spent the last 20 years in community at Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, NY.
