Mr. Keith Krayer arrived at Bergen Catholic in September 1963 as a history teacher and Head Football coach. Keith, the third head coach in the varsity football team’s history, led the Crusaders to their first two State Championships (1963 and 1965). Compiling a record of 19-8 during his tenure, he also led BC to its first undefeated season (9-0 in 1965). The Crusaders developed into a powerhouse in 1965, outscoring their opponents by a score of 345-63 margin. Twelve seniors from that team went on to play football in college. Keith was named “Coach of the Year” by three newspapers including The Record and The New York Times. He attended Scranton Central High School where he was a three-sport athlete and captain. He earned a football scholarship to Rutgers University, where he lettered three years and was member of the school’s first undefeated team. Keith left BC in June, 1966 to venture into the business world. After several moves, he and his family settled in Acton, Massachusetts, where he started a manufacturer’s rep company in 1978. Keith and his wife, Maggi, have five children and twelve grandchildren.
