He was a three-year starter at fullback and linebacker for the Crusaders. He received First Team All-County honors after his junior and senior seasons (the first BC player to accomplish that feat) and was named First Team All-State in 1974. As one of the team’s tri-captains, he was named the Outstanding Athlete of the graduating class. He was also named to Bergen County’s All-Decade and All-Century Teams. Joe attended Penn State University on an athletic scholarship where he was a three-year letterman and two-year starter at outside linebacker/defensive end. While at Penn State, his teams went 11-1 and were ranked #4 in the country. During his senior year, his defensive unit was the top-ranked defense in the country and was one of Penn State’s all-time best defenses. His team also played in the 1979 Sugar Bowl National Championship Game against Alabama, but lost (14-7). That year, Joe was recognized as Bergen County’s College Athlete of the Year. He continued his education at Penn State and received his BS in 1979 and his MBA in finance in 1981. Joe is currently a Senior Vice President for Bowne of Philadelphia. He and his wife, Dawn, are proud parents of four beautiful, athletic daughters.
