Mr. Howard McGovern has been associated with Bergen Catholic since 1970, when the first of seven sons and future Bergen alumni enrolled. Howard is a 1951 graduate of Fordham University. He was President of G.T. McGovern Trucking, the former company from which he is now retired. He has been involved with the Father’s Club. the Crusader Touchdown Club and was an active member of the Golf committee. Howard helped organize and establish Bergen Catholic’s first Board of Directors, serving as President in its initial two years of operation. In 1987 the McGovern Award was established by the Crusader Touchdown Club. For their contribution to the enhancement Bergen Catholic Football, Howard and his wife, Terry, were the initial recipients of this award.
