Mr. James D. McGovern graduated from Bergen Catholic in 1983. While at BC, Jim earned 8 Varsity letters and numerous All County and All American honors in football and golf. Jim captained state championship teams in football and golf in 1982 and 1983. After winning the Met Open and Met Amateur Golf Championships in 1987, and being named Bergen County Amateur Athlete of the Year by the YMCA, Jim turned professional. Jim played in the first Ben Hogan Tour, winning three tournaments and finishing second in money earnings, thus gaining his first PGA Tour Card in 1991. After two years on the PGA Tour, Jim, one of the more popular players, tied a PGA record with the fewest putts in a round (18), and finished fourth in the St. Jude Classic.
