Mr. Regis Pierre McGuire graduated from Bergen Catholic in 1979. Pierre played football and hockey while at Bergen. He attended Hobart College where he earned a BA in English and was also a three sport letterman. He played professional hockey in Geleen, Holland in 1983-1984 and had a tryout with the New Jersey Devil’s in the fall of 1984. Pierre had numerous college coaching positions from 1984 through 1990. At that time, he became a scout and an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins. After leaving the Penguins, Pierre served as assistant coach and general manager of the Hartford Whalers, until November 16, 1993 when he became the youngest Coach in the National Hockey League.
