Br. Eugene D. McKenna was appointed Principal of Bergen Catholic High School on July 30, 1955. Brother grew up in New York and attended Sacred Heart School conducted by the Christian Brothers of Ireland. He graduated in 1938 from St. Joseph’s Juniorate at West Park, N.Y. and made his final vows on Christmas Day, 1946. Bergen was indeed privileged to have as its founding principal a man dedicated to youth, a man possessed of the joy of life, a man willing to do his share so no one would have to do a lot.
