Mr. Al Naimo has established himself as one of the finest track coaches in New Jersey during his career of almost 25 years at Bergen Catholic. He joined the BC coaching staff in 1984 as the head coach of both the indoor track and outdoor track teams, and as an assistant coach for the cross country squad. He served as a cross country assistant for 12 seasons before taking over the reigns as the head coach in 1996. His teams have compiled an impressive list of accomplishments during his tenure. Coach Naimo’s cross country team won a league title in 2005, his indoor track squads won six Bergen County titles and three league championships, and his outdoor track teams have compiled a dual meet record of 144-36 and have brought home six NNJIL crowns and four Bergen County titles. A member of the New Jersey State Coaches Hall of Fame, Coach Naimo was named “National Northeast Regional Coach of the Year” and “New Jersey Coach of the Year” for Indoor Track in 2003, and is a six-time winner of the “Bergen County Coach of the Year” award. The former President of the Bergen County Coaches Association is also an executive member of the New Jersey Catholic Track Conference for the last 27 years.
