Rev. Msgr. Thomas “Tom” P. Nydegger, Ed.D., graduated from Bergen Catholic in 1984. Tom was ordained an Archdiocesan priest in May, 1992. After three years at Immaculate Conception Church, Secaucus, Tom began a series of rapid appointments in the Archdiocese: First, Secretary to the Archbishop; then, Director of Vocations; and then, Vice Chancellor/Assistant to the Vicar General & Moderator of the Curia. Next, he was sent to Immaculate Conception Seminary, serving for ten years as Vice Rector/Business Manager and Director of Formation. In April 2005, His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, named him a Chaplain to His Holiness with the title “Reverend Monsignor.” In 2008, Tom earned his Doctorate in Education from Seton Hall Univ. Two years later, Tom was appointed as Associate Vice President for Student Services at Seton Hall. Next, Tom served as Pastor of St. Philomena Church, Livingston, later serving concurrently as Executive Director of Clergy Personnel. Most recently, Tom was appointed to his current position as Vicar General & Moderator of the Curia for the Archdiocese in September, 2014. He remains loyal to BC as a “Class Chair,” Reunion Committee member, and Priest serving various liturgies at the school, which he considers the true “foundation” for his ministry of service to God’s people.
