Msgr. Robert Sheeran grew up in Dumont and is a member of the Bergen Catholic Class of 1963. Graduating from Seton Hall University with a degree in classical languages in 1967, he began studies later that year at the United States seminary in Rome, the North American College. He was ordained at St. Peter’s Basilica in 1970 and later served as an associate pastor in Cranford and Livingston. He holds graduate theology degrees from the Gregorian and Angelicum Universities as well as Princeton Theological Seminary. Appointed the 19th President of Seton Hall University in 1995, Msgr. Sheeran has previously served there in positions as Rector of the College Seminary, Associate Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor.
