Sullo, John Genarro

Brother John Gennaro Sullo, CFC, served Bergen Catholic during three different period, contributing significantly to the school during each of those terms. After graduating from high school, he went to work before joining the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1967. After graduating from Iona College in 1971, Br. Sullo accepted his first teaching assignment at BC, where he spent three years. His travels eventually took him to Christian Brothers’ schools in Florida, Rhode Island and New York (plus a second term as Dean of Students at BC), before he was named as Principal of Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame HS in Miami, FL. Br. Sullo returned Bergen Catholic for a third term in 1993. He held the position of Principal for one year (1993-94), and then was named BC’s first President. Many major improvements took place during his tenure, including significant electrical and technological upgrades in the building and the installation of FieldTurf on the athletic field. He was named President of All Hallows HS in The Bronx, before he was asked to become the Director of Mission Education and Support for the Brothers’ missions in South America. Presently, Br. Sullo is teaching Spanish and Latin American History at his alma mater, Iona College.
