Gerard A. Turro graduated from Bergen Catholic in 1973. While at Bergen Catholic one of Gerry’s extra-curricular activities was being an active member of the “Radio Club” moderated by Brother Lee. This association with the Bergen Catholic “Radio Club” may have inspired the dream to bring FM radio to Bergen County. Gerry attended Montclair State College and helped build WMSC FM. Montclair State’s first radio station. The station was only .8 Watts and yet it covered almost twenty miles. As President and founder of Jukebox Radio, Gerry’s lifelong dream came true when on March 4, 1993, Jukebox Radio, WJUX FM, signed on as Bergen County’s first and only twenty-four hour FM radio station.
