Brother Peter Zawot graduated from Bergen Catholic High School in 1975, The following semester, he entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers. He obtained a B.S. degree in Biology from Iona College (NY). He subsequently obtained a M.S.Ed. in Biology/Education from St. Bonaventure University (NY) and a M.A. in Administration from Fairfield University (CT). Br. Peer began his education career teaching seventh grade at Sacred Heart School in NYC. He taught high school biology, religion, and anatomy & physiology in New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Florida. He was on the faculty of Bergen Catholic from 1981-86 where he also coached the Academic Quiz Bowl, moderated the Mothers Club and chaperoned a number of school trips to Europe. He served as assistant principal and principal of schools in New York, Florida and Hawaii. Currently Br. Peter is on the Province Leadership Team (PLT) of the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers North America Province. As such, some of his responsibilities include serving as PLI’ liaison to the Office of Evangelization, the Office of Educational Services and as a Member/Trustee of the nine separately incorporated U.S. schools for which the brothers have governance responsibility. He also is the PLT liaison to seven of the thirty-five Christian Brother communities in North America. He resides at the Province Center in Elizabeth, NJ.
