Bergen Catholic Gives Back on Immersion Service Trip to Peru

ORADELL, NJ, January 29, 2024 – Recently a group of Bergen Catholic students and faculty spent a week in Peru as part of the Christian Brothers Immersion Program, where they helped give back to the local community through various service projects, while learning about the local culture.

The BC contingent helped to rebuild homes in Jicamarca that had been destroyed by flooding over the past year, and also brought much needed supplies and donations to local families in the neighborhood.

In addition to their service projects, the Crusaders were able to experience the beauty of Peruvian culture on their visit to Lima, where they celebrated Mass, shopped in local markets, visited fellow Christian Brothers school Colegio Fr Y Alegria, and shared meals with new friends.

Our Bergen Catholic students continue to follow the mission set out by Blessed Edmund Rice to stand in solidarity with those marginalized by poverty and injustice.
